TheCommunity.com was founded in 2001 by Mary Wald and Nobel Peace Prize laureate and President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta. It has successfully forwarded the messages of the Nobel Peace Prize laureates on critical issues in international media and other channels for more than two decades.
Twenty-eight Nobel Peace Prize laureates have been involved in projects on TheCommunity.com. Archbishop Desmond Tutu was the site’s active Human Rights Advisor for 14 years.
Creative Visions in Los Angeles (https://creativevisions.org) provides fiscal sponsorship and 501c3 (non-profit) status for the project.

Mary Wald
With a strong background in public relations and Internet strategies, Mary has been forwarding the messages of the Nobel Peace Prize laureates online and in print and electronic media for more than two decades.
She has Nobel Peace Prize laureate José Ramos-Horta’s international PR contact and editor since 2001. She ran international PR actions for the Rome Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates for five years.
With Ramos-Horta, Mary has launched actions and campaigns involving 27 Nobel Peace Prize laureates through The Community. She has personally connected artists including Bono, Paul Simon, Robert de Niro, Ron Howard, Michael Douglas, Peter Gabriel and others to the causes of the Nobel laureates.

Bonnie Abaunza
Bonnie founded and ran the Artists for Amnesty program for Amnesty International, activating the entertainment community, from 2001 to 2007. She served as Vice President, Social Action and Advocacy at Participant Media for two and a half years, developing and executing social action campaigns to promote the documentaries and feature films produced by Participant Media, and served as Director of Philanthropy for Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer for five years.
Today she runs The Abaunza Group, creating nationally recognized social impact campaigns for documentary films for Netflix, Apple, and independent producers. The list of Academy Award nominated and Academy Award winning titles Bonnie has elevated wtih social impact campaigns is long and ever-growing. Bonnie’s campaigns have moved the needle on critical issues including genocide with the Hotel Rwanda campaign, conflict diamonds with Blood Diamond, and abuses by the food industry with Food, Inc. Artists she has activated for social impact campaigns include Lady Gaga, Cher, Pharrell, Ron Howard, Jada Pinkett Smith, Nicholas Cage, Don Cheadle, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, and many, many more. Jesse Kornbluth is a New York-based writer. As a journalist, he was a contributing editor for Vanity Fair and New York magazines. His books include Highly Confident: The Crime and Punishment of Michael Milken and Married Sex: A Love Story.
In digital media, he was editorial director for America Online; he now edits a cultural concierge website, HeadButler.com.
